Your tour of Dublin begins with the impressive Trinity College; Ireland's oldest university. Explore the Old Library, which houses 200,000 antiquarian texts and the oldest surviving harp in Ireland. Here you will see the world-famous Book of Kells, a fabulous example of early Irish manuscript illumination. Hand-crafted by monks, it contains the four gospels and has been resident at Trinity College since the 17th century.
Continue to St. Patrick's Cathedral, the largest church in Ireland, where you have the opportunity to see a memorial to Jonathan Swift, the author of 'Gulliver's Travels', who became Dean of St. Patrick's in 1713 (4 hours).
Please note: The Old Library and Book of Kells exhibition will remain open until the end of 2025 but please be aware that due to a redevelopment project, only the first eight bays of books remain which represents 10% of the complete collection

After breakfast, you will enjoy an 8-hour tour to explore the south of Dublin.
The Wicklow Mountains are the largest uninterrupted upland area in the country and became a National Park in 1998. Drive across the barren moorlands to Glendalough, where you reach the verdant 'Valley of the Two Lakes', an area of great natural beauty. It was here that St. Kevin established a monastic community during the Dark Ages and you have the opportunity to see the ruins of churches and a perfectly-intact round tower. Later, you stop off at the renowned Powerscourt Gardens, one of Ireland's finest gardens. Designed to be part of the wider landscape, there are numerous small gardens to enjoy. From the terrace, you are able to admire a delightful panorama of them all, with Sugarloaf Mountain and the magnificent Wicklow Mountains serving as a backdrop. You return to Dublin at the end of the day.
