Overview

Travel onboard the Rocky Mountaineer from the coastal city of Vancouver to Kamloops, in the heart of British Columbia's interior. You will see dramatic changes in scenery, from the lush green fields of the Fraser Valley, through forests and winding river canyons surrounded by the peaks of the Coast and Cascade Mountains, to the desert-like environment of the BC interior. Highlights include the rushing waters of Hell's Gate in the Fraser Canyon and the steep slopes and rock sheds along the Thompson River.

Your journey continues north and east to the mighty Canadian Rockies and the province of Alberta. Once again you will be surrounded by dramatic scenery as you follow the banks of the North Thompson River through the Monashee and Cariboo Mountains, climbing ever nearer to the high peaks of the Continental Divide. Highlights include Mount Robson, at 3,954 metres (12,972 feet) the highest peak in the Canadian Rockies Pyramid Falls, and the climb over the Yellowhead Pass into Jasper National Park.

Travel to Lake Louise via one of the most scenic highways in the world, the Icefields Parkway. Among the highlights are Bow Lake, the Columbia Icefield, Glacier Skywalk and Athabasca Falls.

Explore beautiful Lake Louise, before joining a half-day tour into Yoho National Park to view some of its natural wonders. Among the attractions are the Spiral Tunnels, Emerald Lake and a natural rock bridge that spans the Kicking Horse River.

Onto the heart of the Canadian Rockies, Banff. Banff has activities for all, from taking the gondola to the top of Sulphur Mountain, relaxing in the Banff hot springs, exploring the bustling town, to outdoor wildlife adventures. Your journey then ends in the Stampede city of Calgary.

Day 3 Rocky Mountaineer: Vancouver Kamloops

Departing early in the morning, travel onboard Rocky Mountaineer from the coastal city of Vancouver to Kamloops, located in the heart of British Columbia's interior. Day 6 Jasper Lake Louise

Travel through the heart of the Canadian Rockies along one of the world’s most breathtaking mountain highways. This full-day scenic journey showcases dramatic landscapes, including towering glaciers, turquoise lakes, cascading waterfalls, and panoramic alpine views. Along the way, enjoy multiple photo stops at iconic locations, with opportunities to experience a glacier adventure and take in spectacular viewpoints overlooking vast valleys and icefields. Insightful commentary from your guide or host brings the region’s natural history, wildlife, and geology to life. Day 8 Lake Louise Banff

This morning you are free to explore beautiful Lake Louise on your own. In the afternoon, a half-day transfer takes you into Yoho National Park to view some of its natural wonders. Among the attractions are the Spiral Tunnels, Emerald Lake and a natural rock bridge that spans the Kicking Horse River. Your transfer ends upon arrival in Banff.

Please note that Spring & Autumn departures will not include the Yoho National Park tour due to seasonality. It will be a straight transfer from Lake Louise to Banff for these departures.

Can you book my international airfares?

On some Islands Holiday Packages (e.g. Fiji), it is practical to include flights, so where we have done this it is indicated by the plane icon.

However, on the majority of our Holiday Packages, we do not include international flights.

We found that many customers may prefer to:

Travel on a specific airline of their choice
Have the flexibility to book flights with Frequent Flyer points
Select flight dates that may be different to our Holiday Package start/end dates
Use a Travel Credit already held with the airline
Use their travel agent for this service

We are able to assist with flights on any Holiday Package, so please just notify us during the Book Now process or contact our team.

Should I take travel insurance?

Travel insurance is strongly recommended. During the Book Now process please confirm you require assistance, and our team will be in contact with you.

What should I do before travelling?

Before you travel it is your responsibility to ensure you have the appropriate documentation including visas. If you are travelling on a passport other than Australian or New Zealand, you will require a permit to re-enter Australia.
